June round-up: what we did, where we went

My monthly memory jogger – something for me to look back on

Where we went: Lansallos Cove, Eden Project, Pencarrow Head, Lantic Bay, Lerryn, Fowey, Polruan, Bodinnick

What we did: went to several beaches; entertained 3 sets of visitors; took a long walk; worked in the garden; ate out several times; took Harri to the vet in Looe twice; got ourselves checked out and registered with the local GP; voted.  B is striping down one of his old motor bikes and I discovered the Classics Club and the world of book blogging

Who came to visit: final days of Ellie’s visit; Debbe came by for coffee; Karina; Tom & Amy

We left Cornwall for: another visit to the optician at Tavistock

I’ve been walking: around the roads here but also slightly further afield this month – part of the Hall Walk, a short stretch of the Coastal Path, through Ethy Wood along the Lerryn River

In the house: we rather ground to a halt this month

In the garden: new cutting bed planted; front container display achieved

Bird highlights: swallows, buzzards and babies in abundance

We’ve been watching: Outlander two; Branagh’s final Wallander series; Dad’s Army, the movie (disappointing); Celebrity Master Chef; The Great British Sewing Bee; Agatha Raisin (great fun); Carol (beautiful); hours and hours of political news and a smattering of tennis

I’ve finished reading: Enchanted Cornwall by Daphne du Maurier, As I Walked Out One Midsummer Morning by Laurie Lee; The Shipping News By Annie Proulx

I’m currently reading: Emma by Jane Austen; Handbook of the Soul edited by Richard Carlson and Benjamin Shield; the Poetry of James Hearst; An Old-Fashioned Girl by Louisa May Alcott; I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith

I’ve been writing: just this blog and several long emails

I’ve been discovering:  some wonderful poets – James Hurst and William Henry Davies especially; a whole range of book blogs

June highlights: roses in sunshine; reading under the tree; the Hall Walk; Lantic Bay
